Joost Vanhecke - ideas, strategies and creative concepts - in the interior design, architecture and construction industries and in design management. Clients include Antoine Architectural Finishes, GLEvents, Rubika, Biennale Interieur. Founder of dotsandplanes and Firmax.

Joost Vanhecke is at his best when challenged to develop ideas, strategies and creative concepts for new projects, ventures and brands.
By steering companies and individuals in new directions he helps them face new market realities.

His expertise is in the interior design, architecture and construction industries and in design management.
Over the past decade Joost has organised leading international design exhibitions and events as well as a design biennale. More recently he has developed and honed a 'business (to) architecture' methodology and approach (B2A).

Joost is an eternal optimist with a hands-on entrepreneurial mentality. He was a member of the Government Commission for Design & Architecture in his native Belgium from 2012 to 2018 and is a guest teacher at the ISD Rubika design management school in France.
He is also a proactive fundraiser for cancer-related causes having suffered the disease himself and is in the process of re-evaluating what is important in life and work.

Ventures past and present that I have been involved in.

Antoine Architectural Finishes
Boss Paints has been a leading Belgian paint company for 75 years. Before Joost worked with them however, they had never looked beyond the domestic market. In 2018 they asked him to join the export team and implement a 'business2architecture' methodology as well as help kick-start an international business arm selling a new all-natural range of 'Architectural Finishes' conceived for interiors.

Imagination & inventiveness
Ideas, beliefs and strategies are my starting point with any new business project or marketing and PR effort. You can expect me to listen, understand, write stories, create visuals and mood boards and share my ideas and opinion with passion.
Project management & art direction
I love working with people and am not afraid to speak my mind. Depending on the topic I often commission, collaborate with and direct photographers, graphic designers, PR specialists, product designers, user interface specialists, writers, curators, journalists, architects, interior designers, scenographers and exhibition designers…
Hands-on & goal-oriented
Expect an anchor that steadies the ship and that you can turn to any time you need, be that for a few days, several months or even years. I will help you deliver a strategy that we can then adapt together. I don't call myself a consultant and won't ask to be added to your payroll but while we are collaborating, I will definitely be part of your team.
Entrepreneurial & business-minded
Over the years I have worked with multiple clients and it's been an enriching experience. I have a network of valuable and sought-after international design and architecture contacts and enjoy working for ambitious clients.

I like to work with people.
